...Closing Friday Night on Centre Stage were The Stumble. As always, their set was dynamite. Potent riproaring Chicago style blues, mostly from their superb album 'The World is Tough'. The next day they showed their versatility by varying their set from the previous night and once again received ecstatic applause from the audience. Finishing the set with 'Let The Good Times Roll', we were all left glowing with the feelgood factor...

Burnley National Blues Festival April 2007
...Again, on Saturday we set off early to Oliver's Bar before the main stage sessions, this time to see The Stumble. A band that we were knocked out by at Butlins earlier this year and we have subsequently played their CD to near destruction. A 6 piece fronted by Paul Melville on vocals backed by some of the best musicians we've had the pleasure to see. They packed Oliver's Bar to capacity and treated a very appreciative audience to a mix of their own songs and Chicago classics. The highlight for us was their version ofB.B.King's 'All Over Again'-the epitome of slow blues with haunting sax, guitar ranging from sultry to mind blowing and a smooth soulful vocal with sheer raw power. This band is going to be big!.....

...so the opening band, The Stumble, were asked to do another half hour after going off stage at the end of their stupendous set. This they did to the delight of the crowd who had been taken by surprise with their great, focussed and lively blues numbers, with lovely vocals from their frontman. Thankyou Stumblers-you saved the night for organisers and audience alike. Diane Gillard
